Clat Counselling 2027

CLAT Counselling 2027 Latest update and Notifications

The counselling phase of the CLAT admissions process is frequently the least understood. Many students think that admission is practically certain once the results are announced. In fact, a candidate's ability to secure an NLU seat is determined during CLAT 2027 counselling.

Each year, candidates lose seats due to improper preference filling, missing deadlines, or misinterpretation of the CLAT seat allocation regulations rather than low rankings.

Admission is not guaranteed by rank alone. Counselling participation, preference order, seat availability, and category cut-offs between rounds all affect admission. Procedural precision is now more crucial than ever because the entire CLAT 2027 counselling process is conducted through a centralized Consortium site.

Keeping last year’s trends in mind, CLAT counselling 2027 is likely to begin in the last days of December 2026 and will run through till Mid-May or early June 2027. Participating NLUs and other colleges will release their merit lists and invite students for several counselling rounds and group discussions.

Checking the status, paying the confirmation fee, uploading the necessary documentation, and meeting deadlines are crucial steps in the counselling process. They also have the opportunity to "float" or "upgrade" for later stages.

This tutorial provides candidates with a step-by-step understanding of the whole CLAT 2027 counselling process, including registration, preference filling, seat allocation, and admission confirmation.

CLAT 2027 Counselling

The methodical procedure used by National Law Universities to assign seats to applicants following the announcement of the results is called CLAT 2027 counselling. Candidates use a centralized admissions method run by the Consortium of NLUs rather than applying to individual NLUs.

The CLAT counselling process's goal is to match:

Rank of the candidate
Eligibility by category
NLU preferences
Available seats

Because seats are assigned using a rank-based system, CLAT seat distribution is both preference-driven and merit-driven. As a result, comprehending the counseling process is just as important as really preparing for a test.

When will CLAT Counselling 2027 begin?

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will release the CLAT 2027 Counselling registration window in Mid-December 2026 and will run for the next 5 months in 2027. The CLAT 2027 results are expected to be released in December 2026.

The dates for the CLAT 2027 counselling process will be released alongside the results and the merit list. Candidates will have to pay their registration fee before the window closes.

Only candidates who complete the CLAT 2027 Counselling Registration on time and pay their fees will be allowed to participate in CLAT 2027 Counselling.

The official website of the Consortium of NLUs, consortiumofnlus.ac, will host the online CLAT 2027 counselling registration process, comprising a 5-stage process starting from registration, followed by submitting college preferences, merit list release, and assignment of seats.

Candidates are advised not to wait till the last minute to make payments to avoid payment-related issues

The counselling fee will be refunded for those who are not allotted a seat.

Candidates should provide a minimum of 15 preferences for UG courses and a minimum of 5 preferences for PG courses during this counselling registration period. You can also provide more preferences.

How Can I Sign Up for CLAT 2027 Counselling?

Those who will be invited to participate in the counselling and seat-allocation procedure must register online by doing the following:

Step 1: Access the registered accounts by logging in.

Candidates must first log in to their registered accounts by doing the following:

  • Check out CLAT 2027's official webpage at https://consortiumofnlus.ac.in/.
  • Enter your password and mobile number in the designated field on the homepage.
  • Click Login
  • Click the link to register for counseling.

Step 2: Modify your NLU settings

After that, applicants must revise their selections for a minimum of five National Law Universities (NLUs). Based on their CLAT scores, students can enroll in five-year integrated LLB programs at 24 NLUs in India. However, 20 NLUs in India provide LLM programs to students based on their CLAT results.

Only after they have learned enough about the NLUs, their courses, costs, seats, and other details will candidates be prompted to revise their preferences. It should be mentioned that candidates will only be considered for admission to the NLUs they have chosen when the CLAT 2027 counselling registration process is complete. No other NLU will take them into consideration for admission.

Step 3: Submit the CLAT 2027 Counselling fee.

At this stage, candidates must pay the CLAT counselling fee of INR 30,000 online (or INR 20,000 for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD) to secure a seat using a credit/debit card, UPI, or net banking. After the fee has been properly paid, a confirmation email will be issued to the candidate's registered phone number and email address.

It should be mentioned that candidates are required to pay the counseling cost at this point. Candidates will not be considered for admission if they do not pay the counseling cost. After a candidate is given a seat, the CLAT 2027 counselling charge will be adjusted to reflect the course fee. It should be noted that admission is not guaranteed by simply signing up for therapy. Following the registration procedure, candidates are given seats through the CLAT seat allocation method, which is determined by their merit and NLU preferences.

CLAT 2027 Invitation List

In the invite list, the Consortium provides the admission card numbers of all the candidates who have been selected for the counseling process. Additionally, each shortlisted applicant will receive an email or SMS inviting them to a counseling session. To confirm the counseling invitation, it is recommended that all candidates register for their accounts.

Complete Refund: An applicant will receive a complete refund of INR 30,000 online (or INR 20,000 for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD) without deductions, if they are not selected for a seat in any of the CLAT 2027 counselling rounds or if they withdraw their seat before the deadline.

Partial Refund: A partial refund is subject to the two requirements listed below:

  • Condition 1: Only INR 25,000 (or INR 15,000 for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD) will be reimbursed if the candidate receives a seat in any of the three allotment rounds but decides to renounce the seat and withdraw from the CLAT admissions process.
  • Condition 2: INR 25,000 (or INR 15,000 for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD) will be reimbursed if a candidate is determined to be ineligible based on the information or documents they submitted.
