cuet-2026-syllabus

NTA will conduct the CUET Exam in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and Punjabi. This year, the National Testing Agency has decided to conduct the Central Universities Entrance Test (CUET) in an online manner (Computer-Based Test). Earlier, the examination was conducted in an offline manner. Before beginning, let's have an overview of the CUET 2026 Exam and the marking scheme, which has been discussed in the table below.

CUET Syllabus: Before you start preparing for CUET 2026, it is important to understand the syllabus of CUET. If not, your preparation plan may constantly veer off course, leaving you to wonder what went wrong!

With over 2 Lakh seats on offer for undergraduate programs across 130+ universities, including 44 Central and numerous other (State, private, and deemed) Universities, CUET 2026 is going to be one of the most competitive examinations at the undergraduate level. The exam will be MCQ-based and in an online format.

The University of Delhi has announced that class 12 grades will be taken into account for the tiebreaker scenario (students with equal CUET scores, choosing the same college and programs), even though UG admissions will be determined by candidates' CUET scores. Many more universities are expected to follow the same. Therefore, while preparing for the CUET 2026, you will need to adopt a structured approach that makes sure that you score well in your Boards as well. And in doing that, understanding the CUET syllabus is a critical step.

You can also go through our CUET Sample paper to form a basic understanding of the type of questions asked and the pattern for them.

Changes to the CUET UG 2026 Syllabus Exam and Key Points

  • Exam Languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu are the 13 languages in which CUET UG 2026 will be administered.
  • Online Mode: This year's test will be entirely administered online.
  • Five Subject Selection: Instead of six subjects, students can select five.

  • Fewer Subjects: The General Aptitude Test will now be the main focus, with 37 subjects instead of the original 63.
  • No Optional Questions: This year, there are no more optional questions; students must try every question.

CUET UG 2026 Syllabus Changes – Latest Updates

The Commerce syllabus, comprising Accountancy, Business Studies, and Economics, has undergone substantial modifications as a result of the CUET UG 2026 exam. These changes have an impact on students' study techniques; thus, it's critical to comprehend the updated curriculum, deleted subjects, and anticipated level of exam difficulty.

Significant Modifications to the CUET Business Studies Syllabus

Not much has changed, but key topics have been eliminated.

Though certain out-of-date subjects have been dropped, the syllabus structure is essentially the same:

  • Economic reforms and the LPG policy (liberalization, privatization, globalization) have been abandoned.
  • Since demonetization is no longer applicable, it has been abolished.

Removal of Major Chapters

  • One of the most important chapters, Financial Markets, has been eliminated.
  • Business Finance, formerly known as Financial Management Remnant.

Crucial Subjects That Don't Change

  • Taylor and Fayol's Principles of Management
  • Business Environment (Modified somewhat)
  • Promoting the development of entrepreneurship and consumer protection.

Changes to the CUET UG Accounting Syllabus: Chapters Eliminated

  • There are no longer any NPO (Not-for-Profit Organization) chapters.
  • The Debenture Issue no longer includes the Redemption of Debentures.
  • Computerized Accounting's Database Management System (DBMS) was eliminated.

CUET UG Economics Changes

The biggest change to the CUET UG Economics syllabus is the removal of Indian Economic Development.

  • The CUET UG Economics curriculum no longer includes Indian Economic Development.
  • Due to its increased emphasis, microeconomics is now essential for achieving a good CUET 2026 score.

What's New in Microeconomic Theory?

  • Only two units—Introduction and Consumer Behavior—were covered in the past.
  • Four more significant subjects have now been added:
  • Producer's Equilibrium and Producer Behavior & Supply (Includes Production, Cost, Revenue, Supply, Elasticity)
  • Market Types (only perfect competition is kept; oligopoly, monopoly, and monopolistic competition are eliminated)
  • Demand-Supply Uses and Price Determination (Includes MSP Floor Price Price Ceiling)
  • The recently introduced Food Availability Decline (FAT) Theory.

Additions in Macroeconomics

  • New Income Categories Added: The national income calculations now include disposable income, personal income, and private income.
  • Subjects like Government Budget, Money & Banking, National Income, and Balance of Payments remain unchanged.
